Rock River Valley Pantry Has Serious Need for Volunteers
I think it's safe to say that when the holiday season rolls around, we all feel more charitable. Buying gifts for the ones we love, and sharing our blessings with people who are less fortunate can bring a lot of joy to our lives, but then the holiday season ends, and so does our "giving" feeling.
I get it, when winter hits and the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over, most people just want to hibernate at home. Here's the thing though, just because the holidays are over, the need for help is not, especially at the Rock River Valley Pantry.
According to mystateline.com, Jim McFarlane, volunteer coordinator for Rock River Valley Pantry said; "the non-profit normally has more than enough manpower to get by during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but when January rolls around each year, it becomes much more difficult to find volunteers."
The pandemic is also putting a hurt on volunteer numbers at the Pantry. If you are feeling well, and not at high-risk for COVID-19, please consider dedicating a few of your free hours to helping the Rock River Valley Pantry this month.
Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shifts are about 2 to 3 hours long and involve a variation of tasks like; sorting and packing food, assisting people with check-in and food selection, and more.
