This week's Hometown Hero has quite the "good citizen" resume.

Nominated by Lynne K., our first Hometown Hero of 2021 comes from Stillman Valley, Illinois. He's Stillman Valley Fire Department's Fire Chief, which is no easy task in itself and has served for the department for 25 years. Chad Hoefle, a father of two, has a history with one thing in common, serving others. In addition to taking care of his duties at the station and saving lives, he also represents a family each year who has lost a loved one at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Maryland.

He got to shake President Obama's hand one year. He is also an ordained minister and enjoys marrying people. He has two children. He is a very loving and doting father which shows in their manners and respect for others. He is very involved in the community, church, and school-related activities. He's a very dedicated person, and I've been told many times of how professional and very respectful he is in all of his endeavors. I believe he definitely deserves recognition.

Because Chief Hoefle was selected as a Q98.5 Hometown Hero, he will receive a $100 Amazon gift card thanks to Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress.

Each week we select a Hometown Hero, which can be a man or woman of the military (past or present), a first responder, doctor, nurse, teacher, or an exceptional person (woman, man, or child) in northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin. Nominate your Hometown Hero HERE.
