The April 9th tornado took it's toll on many residents in Northern Illinois many of whom as struggling to recover and rebuild.

Myfoxchicago is reporting that Illinois will be offering long-term, low-interest loans to those affected in these nine Northern Illinois counties:

  • Winnebago
  • Boone
  • Ogle
  • DeKalb
  • Lee
  • McHenry
  • Kane
  • Kendall
  • LaSalle

The announcement was made by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency on Thursday.

A survey of uninsured losses in the area was conducted by officials shortly after the April 9th twister. The loans will be made available to individuals and business affected. The loan assistance is made possible through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A disaster loan outreach center will open soon according to state officials.
