After Years of Silence, Live Music Is Returning to Davis Park in Rockford
If you grew up in the Rockford, Illinois area you probably miss spending a warm summer night at a concert in Davis Park, but guess what? Live music is finally coming back to Davis Park this summer!
Rockford's Best Summer Festivals
When I started in radio in 2001, many of my summer weekends were spent in downtown Rockford watching concerts in Davis Park.
My favorite events to go to every year were On The Waterfront and Stars & Guitars, and I was super bummed when both of them went away. Those events weren’t just concerts; they were summer traditions, and Rockford has been blessed to have so many incredible artists grace the stage in Davis Park.

Downtown Rockford always felt so alive during those two festivals, and it's been far too long since we've been able to enjoy live music along the river in Davis Park. Thankfully, Davis Park's concert-free days will finally be coming to an end this summer!
New RockYard Music Fest Coming to Davis Park
GoRockford definitely made my week when they announced a brand new music festival will be happening in Davis Park this August, and the best part? It will be FREE to attend!
RockYard Music Fest will take place August 14-15, 2026, and was created as part of Rockford’s America 250 celebration as well as an addition to the city's 815 Day festivities.
RockYard Music Fest will be the first major public event to be held in the newly renovated Davis Park, although some areas of the park will still be under construction.
I don’t know if anything will ever fully recreate the magic of On The Waterfront or Stars & Guitars, but I love seeing Rockford trying to build new traditions, and I hope this is one that stays around for many summers to come!
