Rockford Drivers Beware: These Construction Projects Could Affect You
Several construction projects continue to move forward around Rockford, with road work progressing on 11th Street, Auburn Street, and an update on the Davis Park progress.
Rockford Drivers Face Road Closures as Construction Moves Forward
Drivers, residents, and visitors should prepare for closures, detours, and workers in active construction zones.
Work continues on the 11th Street project between Harrison Avenue and Broadway Street, with crews installing new sidewalks, light pole foundations, and lighting. Landscaping and restoration work are also being completed.
Auburn Street Work Continues Between Central and Main
Construction is also underway on Auburn Street between Central Avenue and Main Street. Crews are removing curb, sidewalk, and pavement along the north side of Auburn Street between Rockton Avenue and North Main Street.
Daily closures will be established on side streets as crews replace roadway sections at intersections. Motorists should watch for changing traffic patterns and follow posted detours.
Davis Park Remains Closed During Major Upgrades
The Davis Park at Founders Landing improvement project began in September 2025, with completion of the project planned for Summer 2026, but that has passed and no revised completion date has been confirmed.
Current plans include a new concession and multi-restroom building, along with a stage and greenroom building. Multiuse path improvements, a custom playground, a new skatepark, landscaping, and a parking lot south of the railroad tracks.
