Beef-a-Roo’s Rockford Comeback Includes Andes Mints and a Unique New Job
If you grew up eating Beef-a-Roo in Rockford, Illinois, you probably have some pretty sweet memories of the local fast-food favorite that go beyond its delicious cheddar fries. Thankfully, one of the restaurant's most beloved traditions is making a comeback soon, and it involves chocolate and friendly faces.
Beef-a-Roo's Rockford Comeback Keeps Getting Sweeter
For several decades, Beef-a-Roo has been one of my favorite local restaurants, and it's no secret that the service and quality Rockford residents were used to had declined in recent years.

Now that I have two daughters who love Beef-a-Roo just as much as I do, seeing the Rockford original close was especially disappointing.
Thankfully, local owners Robert Grottke, known for Tom & Jerry's, and Alex Edwards, the owner of Candy Cloud, have been working to bring the beloved restaurant back to the community. The Beef-a-Roo at 1680 N. Alpine Road near Highcrest is expected to be the first location to reopen in just a few weeks.
Grottke and Edwards have said the major goal in reopening the Rockford Beef-a-Roos is to bring back the original recipes and products we remember, and that includes sweet little details like Andes Mints.

Beef-a-Roo's Andes Mint Tradition Is Coming Back
Do you remember getting an Andes mint whenever you dined inside at a Rockford-area Beef-a-Roo?
The last time my daughters and I ate inside a Beef-a-Roo was well over a year ago, and as we were finishing eating they both asked, "Hey, where's the chocolate lady?"
That little chocolatey treat at the end of your meal was one of those small touches that made Beef-a-Roo feel special, and I'm so happy to see it's coming back too!
Here's the thing, the owners aren't simply planning to bring back the mints. They want to revive the friendly, personal service that went along with them, and that's where their newest hiring opportunity comes in.
Beef-a-Roo Is Hiring Mint Ambassadors
Beef-a-Roo's Mint Ambassador Crew will consist of part-time team members who walk through the dining room, offer guests mints, strike up conversations, and keep the dining area clean and inviting. The idea is to make customers feel welcome and cared for, just like the experience many longtime Beef-a-Roo fans remember.
If you are friendly, compassionate, attentive and comfortable interacting with customers, this could be the perfect gig for you!
The owners are currently accepting applications and will invite selected candidates to an interview event featuring hospitality scenarios and guest judges. They also hope to introduce the ambassadors through social media videos and community appearances.
