
Rockford Police Continue 30-Year Tradition with ‘Heroes & Helpers’ Holiday Event
A long-running holiday shopping event with the Rockford Police Department is spreading Christmas cheer this weekend.
Annual Event Brings Officers and Children Together
Rockford Police officers will once again team up with local students for the annual "Heroes and Helpers with PB&PA Unit 6" holiday shopping event on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Hosted at Target on East State Street, the event begins at 8 am and continues a tradition that spans more than three decades in Rockford, Illinois.
A Partnership Focused on Community and Compassion
For over 30 years, the Rockford Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 6 has partnered with Rockford Public School District 205 to select children for this meaningful holiday experience.

Participants will spend the morning shopping alongside Rockford Police officers, choosing essential winter clothing, a toy, or gifts for family members.
Officers Highlight the Importance of Giving Back
Rockford Police Sergeant Jesse Geiken is the President of the PB&PA Unit 6 said they are proud of their annual event.

This initiative is primarily funded by the PB&PA, with additional support from Target's national "Heroes and Helpers" donation program.
