Two Charged in Deadly Shooting at Rockford Convenience Store
Two residents of Rockford have been charged in the shooting death of a 21-year-old that happened on the city's southeast side.
Shooting Reported Late Sunday Night
Rockford Police and emergency responders were dispatched around 11:10 pm on September 7, in the area of Charles Street and 11th Street after reports of a shooting.

According to the press release from the Rockford Police Department, when officers arrived on the scene, they located a man inside his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office at a local hospital. According to the Coroner, the man was identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Locke of Rockford, who died from a gunshot injury.
Investigation Leads to Arrests
Rockford Police have determined that Locke was shot while sitting in his vehicle at the Stop-N-Go at 2211 Charles Street.
According to the report, detectives from the Rockford Police Gang Unit quickly launched an investigation, identifying two suspects:
- Ladavion Crawford, 18, Rockford
- Madison Shackleford, 20, Rockford
After reviewing the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized charges of First Degree Murder for both Crawford and Shackleford. They are both behind held at the Winnebago County Jail.
Police Response and Community Appeal
Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd noted her officers' quick work in moving the investigation forward so rapidly, saying their "professionalism and immediate action" led to the apprehension of the shooting suspects.

All charges against the suspects are accusations, and both are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
