Rockford Motorcycle Crash Kills Two on Kishwaukee Street

Two people have died after a tragic motorcycle crash on Friday night in Rockford, and authorities are continuing to investigate what led to the deadly incident.

Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Rockford

According to the press release, two people were killed on the southeast side of Rockford in the 5800 block of Kishwaukee Street around 9:30 pm on Friday (7/10).

Preliminary reports say the operator of the motorcycle allegedly lost control of the bike with a passenger riding along. Investigators said the motorcycle left the roadway and crashed.

Rockford Police officers and Rockford Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, and upon arrival, determined both occupants of the motorcycle had suffered fatal injuries and were beyond resuscitation efforts.

Autopsy Findings Released

The Coroner's Office pronounced both individuals on the motorcycle deceased at 10:02 p.m. on Friday (7/10).

The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Matthew Foltz and 58-year-old Shelley Cain, and following an autopsy, Foltz's preliminary cause of death was blunt trauma to the head and chest resulting from the motorcycle crash.

Cain's preliminary cause of death was blunt trauma to the head and neck sustained in the crash. Officials have not released additional details regarding what may have caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.

Investigation Remains Active

The crash remains under investigation by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office and the Rockford Police Department.
