Multiple Major Road Projects Impacting Rockford Drivers

The ongoing work is part of broader infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving road conditions, drainage systems, and underground utilities.

City officials are advising drivers to plan for additional travel time and consider alternate routes when possible as contruction crews continue to work through the summer months, according to the press release.

Auburn Street Project Brings Daily Lane Closures

Construction activity continues along Auburn Street between Central Avenue and Main Street. Crews are currently focused on installing a new water main and upgrading storm sewer infrastructure in the eastbound outside lane.

To accommodate the work, daily lane closures will remain in place throughout the construction zone. The project is designed to improve underground utility reliability while enhancing stormwater management capabilities along one of Rockford's busiest corridors.

Drivers traveling through the area should expect periodic delays, especially during peak commuting.
