We've all heard the saying "mother knows best", but one Southern Illinois woman just won a million dollars that proves it.

Mother Knows Best

The way I see it, there are two types of people in this world: the ones who always listen to their mom, and the ones who regret not listening to their mom.

I'm not saying moms don't make mistakes, but when it comes to life advice, moms can be our greatest asset.

Illinois Woman Wins Million Dollar Jackpot Thanks to Her Mom

March 21, 2026, was a VERY lucky day for one Southern Illinois woman, and she owes every bit of appreciation to her mother, who told her what numbers to pick.

According to an article from FOX 32 Chicago:

The numbers she played, 2-14-16-31-40-46, were based on family birthdays and anniversaries, a tradition passed down from her mother.

Her mother had used the same numbers years earlier but missed out on a $6.4 million jackpot after forgetting to submit the ticket.

The lottery winner (who chose to stay anonymous) said her mother told her to continue playing the numbers because someday "they will hit", and that is exactly what happened.

The woman plans on using her winnings to take her family on vacation in the Bahamas, to buy two new cars, and invest some of it in her daughter's education. She also said "This win is truly a blessing from my mother."

So, the next time your mom gives you advice? Listen to her. She might just make you a millionaire.
