Dangerous Heat Index of 105+ Expected in Illinois, Wisconsin
We had a nice little break from the brutal heat and humidity over the past several days, but get ready to sit on hell's front porch beginning midweek.
Heat Watch Will Be in Effect for Most of the Midwest
According to the latest forecast from The Weather Channel, another heat dome is going to settle over the Midwest this week, which will surge temperatures and bring higher humidity.

Beginning on Tuesday (7/22), hotter, more humid air is expected to move into the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and parts of the Great Lakes, according to the Weather Channel.
An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for Wednesday morning (7/23), through Thursday evening (7/24), as dangerously hot conditions grip the entire Stateline area. Forecasters warn of heat index values reaching 106 degrees, accompanied by high humidity.
With heat this hazardous, there's a high risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for children, seniors, and outdoor workers.
Storm Threat Returns by the Weekend
During the peak of the heat, conditions will be mostly sunny on Wednesday and Thursday, but there's a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms on Thursday night as lows drop to around 70.
Storms could bring damaging winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding across northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin, including the Rockford region and the Chicagoland area.

Another chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast on Friday, when the high is supposed to be milder in the mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service.
Stay Safe if Out During the Extreme Heat
Officials are urging residents to prepare for the upcoming heat wave by staying hydrated, staying indoors in air-conditioned spaces, and avoiding outdoor activities during the peak heat hours.
And make sure you check on vulnerable neighbors and family members, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, because car interiors can become deadly in just minutes.
