Rockford-Area Residents Asked If Jax Pub Was Closing. Here’s the Answer

When Oscar's Pub and Grill said its final goodbyes to Rockford back in June, many Stateline area residents were left wondering: Will Jax Pub in Loves Park be the next to close? Well, we finally have an answer to that one important question.

Fond Memories of Oscar's Pub and Grill

During my 20s, I spent a LOT of time enjoying drinks with friends at Oscar's Pub and Grill, and I was very bummed to see them permanently close in June.

I have so many fond memories of the years I spent having fun at Oscar's, and when I first read about its closing I immediately thought: “Wait…does this mean Jax Pub in Loves Park is next?”

Oscar’s owner Brad Fosberg also owns Jax Pub, so it wasn't exactly a crazy question to ask, especially since Fosberg’s retirement was the reason given for Oscar’s closing.

Well, I have some VERY good news for anyone who loves grabbing a drink, some food and watching a game at Jax Pub.

Jax Pub is NOT closing for good!

In fact, something pretty exciting is happening there.

Major Updates Coming to Jax Pub

Over the last few days, I've heard several people asking if Jax Pub at 4160 N Perryville Road is closed, and it appears the answer is yes... but only temporarily.

On August 18, 2026, Jax Pub posted this update on Facebook:

IS JAX PUB CLOSING DOWN FOR GOOD??

NOPE! —BUT SOMETHING EXCITING IS TAKING SHAPE!

You’re probably wondering what we’ve been up to. We’re transforming JAX into an upscale pub and sports bar, with all the games playing on twelve huge 85-inch TVs!

The remodel includes new carpet, wood flooring, a new bar, a ceramic-tile back bar, new lighting—and a few surprises we’re saving for the big reveal!

Honestly, I'm kind of intrigued by the “few surprises” part.

Jax Pub has long billed itself as a neighborhood sports bar with big screens and plenty of games, so the good news is, this sounds more like a serious upgrade than a complete change in what people already love about the place.

And there's a date to look forward to.

Jax Pub is expected to reopen August 30.
