If You Had Storm Damage in Illinois, Some Tax Relief May Be Coming

Illinois residents and businesses that are still dealing with damage from the summer storms could get some relief under a proclamation announced by the governor.

Illinois Announces Tax Relief for Storm Victims

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Revenue will offer relief to taxpayers in 15 counties affected by heavy rainfall, flash flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes.

Illinois has recorded approximately 204 tornadoes already in 2026, according to the National Weather Service, which leads the nation in tornado activity.

15 Illinois Counties Included

Counties included in this tax relief are Alexander, Champaign, Cook, DuPage, Ford, Fulton, Kane, LaSalle, McLean, Marshall, Pulaski, Tazewell, Vermilion, and Will.

The covered severe-weather dates range from May through August, depending on the county.
