The Freeport Park District Board will meet on February 4th to discuss the future of the tabernacle, at Oakdale Nature Preserve in Freeport. This 105 year old structure could meet the wrecking ball and there's a group of citizens that want to keep it standing.

Save The Tabernacle is an organization that celebrates the history of this amazing facility at Oakdale. The tabernacle has hosted weddings, anniversaries, concerts, and numerous community events, for years and years. This is a meaningful part of local history and folks from Freeport and surrounding communities don't feel like they are being told the truth.

There has been some debate about money coming in to fix and repair the tabernacle. What is the actual cost for total repairs, and is the Freeport Park District dead set on demolishing this historical structure.

The meeting on February 4th is 6:30 PM Park Headquarters, 1122 Burchard Ave, Freeport, IL. CLICK HERE for information about Save The Tabernacle and their efforts the keep this structure standing.
