A brewery that has served the Freeport area for over a decade announced that it will be shutting down at the end of January or "earlier if the beer sells out."

Generations Brewing Company announced on Facebook yesterday morning the impending closure. The post reflected more on the building than just the business, where owners called the place a spot for celebrations, routines, and those casual "grab one" moments.

Generations Brewing Company Thanks the Community and Staff

The team at Generations also thanked their customers for turning their dream brewery into a home. Staff were also praised for their passion, pride, and commitment to the brewery from day one.

Generations is hoping customers turn out in the final few weeks to raise a few glasses in the same place where friendships were formed and memories were made.

Why This Freeport Brewery Closure Hits a Little Harder

You hate to see any business, bar, or restaurant close down. This one seemed like one of the good ones, too. Generations Brewing Company is rated a 4.9 out of 5 on Yelp and was called "phenomenal," "amazing," and "a great little spot in Freeport for you craft brew lovers."

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
