My approach to grocery shopping is the quicker, the better, so, I'm a big fan of services like Walmart Pickup. For me, grocery shopping on my phone from my couch makes the chore far more bearable, and sitting in a pickup space is far less annoying that fighting crowds in the store.
Pickup services also have other pluses, like automatically refunding you for an item that has been recalled, like cottage cheese sold at Illinois Walmart stores just was.
Walmart Cottage Cheese Recall
On February 24, 2026, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration published a voluntary recall that had been issued for several varieties of Great Value cottage cheese.
The FDA recall alert says:
Saputo Cheese USA Inc. (SUSA or Saputo) is voluntarily recalling select cottage cheese products produced by SUSA due to the possibility of liquid dairy ingredients used in the items not being fully pasteurized according to state regulatory standards.
Pasteurization isn’t just food-industry jargon; it’s an important safety step that removes bacteria, and skipping or botching it could pose a health risk if the product is eaten. Thankfully, no illnesses or hospitalizations have been connected to this recall, so make sure you check your fridge...just in case.
Here are the products and best by dates involved in the recall:
If you purchased any of the recalled cottage cheese containers, do NOT eat it. Bring it back to the Walmart you purchased it from for a refund, or simply throw it in the trash.
