Stone Eagle Tavern Shocks Rockford Foodies With Closing Announcement
For 15 years Stone Eagle Tavern in Rockford has been delighting Illinois taste buds, but this February its doors will be closing for good.
Another Rockford Restaurant Says Goodbye
I have lived in the Rockford area my entire life, and I'm always sad to a business close, especially if it is a locally-owned one.
I may not go out to eat as much as I used to, but I have enjoyed many a brunch, lunch, and dinner at Stone Eagle Tavern in Rockford. Heck, my husband and I even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there!
To put it plainly, I'm super bummed and this news SUCKS!
After reading that statement from Jimmy Vitale, I feel the Rockford area community can feel a little solace knowing the closure of Stone Eagle Tavern isn't solely because we stopped going there.
Here are some reactions from sad Stateliners on Stone Eagle's Facebook;
This is a true loss to the city of Rockford and all who have enjoyed this wonderful restaurant.
Sad news…one of Rockford’s best. Great food and wonderful staff, will be sad to see you go. Any chance of another location?
This is truly sad news. I have only been in Rockford for 11 years, but this has been my absolute "go to" restaurant.
Jimmy needs to open a school for restaurant owners everywhere!! His gift is and always has been in hospitality Many local establishments could benefit from his knowledge and ability to make you feel like the most important person in the room.
Please tell us Jim that you are planning a a different location.
Yes, Jim, please tell us that! Stone Eagle Tavern fans all over the community need some light at the end of the tunnel!
Now the big question is; what business do you think will move into the former Stone Eagle Tavern space?
