I'm pretty sure what I'm about to say will be an unpopular opinion, but I'm really hoping to see a couple of inches of snow hit Rockford this weekend. Here's why...

  1. This year has been the worst, and some snow may help put us in a Christmasy mood.
  2. We all have fewer places to go, so we don't have to worry as much about driving in it.
  3. We've all packed on a few pandemic pounds, and some shoveling will do our bodies good.

In all seriousness, the chance for accumulating snow hitting Northern Illinois Friday night into Saturday is looking more and more likely...a fact that is being confirmed by all three of the Chief Meteorologists in Rockford...

Will this weekend's snow event be the start of the super snowy winter the Farmer's Almanac has predicted? I don't know the answer to that, but I do know I've got some holiday baking and Christmas movie watching on the agenda now for this weekend.

Yes, this snowy forecast could still end up being a flop, it wouldn't be the first time that happened, but I think we should all gas up those snow throwers and dig out the shovels from the garage/shed...just in case.
