RRVBC Facing Blood Shortage – How You Can Save Rockford Lives
Want to know something incredible? In about one hour, you can help to save up to 3 lives.
Isn't that amazing? Here's how you do it.
Donate blood!
We were hanging out at Rock River Valley Blood Center the other week and we got to learn more about just how much they really need blood donors right now.
Just from spending a couple hours there I got to see how easy the process of donating blood there is. It's as simple as walking in to their building (when you feel healthy enough to meet all of the requirements), quickly getting registered, a brief wait, a speedy donation blood draw, then the best part - snack time!
I was actually so impressed with how fast and seamless the entire process was. The best part though? You're saving up to three lives AND the blood all stays local.
How do you know if you're eligible to donate? RRVBC's website details -
- You are in general good health: you have a normal temperature, blood pressure, pulse and meet the hemoglobin guidelines.
- You are 17 years old (or 16, with Parental Consent. Click here to download consent form / Click here to download the consent form in Spanish)
- You weigh at least 110 pounds.
- It has been at least 8 weeks since your last whole blood donation.
My favorite part was seeing regular donors come in SO excited to donate blood.
