I always had a saying that the state flag of the State of Illinois is are the construction cones on the road. Thanks to the state not passing a budget, you maybe seeing those longer this summer.

As reported by our news partner WTVO, construction projects could be put on hold since the state didn't pass a budget. One of those projects that could be on hold is the Perryville Road bridge. There are a number of businesses that are being effected by the bridge being closed and with the project being delayed, that could cost even more money for the businesses.

Another project that may be put on hold is the Bell School Road project. When I first moved to Rockford, I was staying at a hotel that was along that road. It has come along nicely, but after July 1st, there will be no more work on it, keeping it at one lane and causing some delays around that area.

Another group of people being affected are the construction workers. They will be laid off if nothing can be settled by the end of the week. So this not only affects the businesses, it will affect the hard workers.

There are over 800 state projects that could be halted. There is money for these projects, but it has to be authorized first. And that has been difficult.
