When RPD received the monstrosity known as a nuisance abatement vehicle the plan was to park it in crime-ridden neighborhoods. Now it's popping up near businesses, too.

It's hard to miss the massive piece of machinery that's stocked with 360-degree cameras for surveying the surrounding environment. Which is exactly why Rockford Police are parking it around town for a limited time before moving it to another high crime location. According to WREX, it's making its presence felt near businesses now, too.

Most recently. the vehicle was parked near where police call high crime areas, such as Sablewood drive and at the Citgo gas station on Auburn and Johnston streets.

The vehicle is moved multiple times a week so that areas don't get used to it in being nearby, a.k.a. get too comfortable.
