Unfavorable weather may be why fewer people donated coats to the first week of Salvation Army's Coats For Kids drive at CherryVale Mall.

It's hard to imagine a child not having adequate clothing to keep them warm and dry thing winter. This is why the Salvation Army is asking for new and gently used coats for (ages newborn to 17), as well as gloves, hats, and scarves. Donation can be dropped off at CherryVale Mall Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 13 (11a-6p) in the parking lot of the in the tent between JCPenney and (what used to be) Bergner's, as well as inside the store.

Coat distribution will be Thursday October 25 from 9 am. to 4 pm. at The Salvation Army , 500 S. Rockford. Recipients need to bring a photo ID and proof of  address for everyone in the home that is receiving a coat.
