Urgent! Rockford Animal Shelter Needs Your Help to Save Lives
Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford, Illinois is facing a critical crisis as it hits capacity that could put hundreds of dogs in danger.
Winnebago County Animal Services Reaches Dangerous Dog Capacity Numbers
Here's one big fact about me; I love animals, (especially dogs), more than I love most people (Sorry, not sorry), so when I see Winnebago County Animal Services post a plea for help that contains statements like; "dog kennels have reached maximum capacity & we need your help" and "facing difficult decisions in regards to space and lifesaving", I tend to freak out a bit.
Basically, Winnebago County Animal Serices is so full of dogs right now that they have had to put multiple dogs in one cage together, which is a far from ideal situation. If they can't clear their cages, they will have to start turning animals in need away, and that is something no one wants to see.
Despite what many people think, Winnebago County Animal Services DOES NOT euthanize adoptable animals due to capacity limits, in fact, euthanization is an absolute last resort. Instead they slash adoption fees and plea for people to consider adoption...which is exactly what they are doing right now.
As I write this, Winnebago County Animal Services has waived adoption fees for over 30 dogs that are ready to go home with their new family TODAY.
All interested adopters must fill out an adoption application for approval, and all adoptions include a wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, vaccinations including a one year rabies shot, and flea and tick preventative...even if their adoption fee has been waived.
Please, if you have ever thought about adopting a shelter dog, this is your perfect time to do it. So many awesome pups are waiting to meet and fall in love with you today.
