Spring 2020 graduates of Rock Valley College will have a virtual alternative to celebrate their accomplishment.

Schools across the globe are looking for ways to still celebrate their graduates, but from a necessary distance. While the pandemic has made us all look for new ways to do some things, it can never take away the pride of graduating.

On Saturday, June 5, Rock Valley College is going to hold a virtual ceremony to replace the on-campus ceremony that was to take place on May 15.

I've been waiting to see just how a virtual graduation ceremony will work. For Spring 2020 RVC grads, you can upload a photo or 10 second video to the video sharing service StageClip, which will be used to host the ceremony.

This is an idea of what it will look like.

Students can start picking up caps and gowns on April 30 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m..

A drive-through pick-up system will be set up in front of the Education Resource Center (ERC) building. Enter from Spring Brook Road and follow the directional signs.
