About three weeks ago I blogged about local artist and sculptor, Fran Volz, building a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Rochelle. Well she's up and is now lighting the way for a new competition in the town.

According to WREX news the city has set a date for their first ever fall festival to celebrate the season as "Hay Day" on October 15th.

Along with the typical festival fair, The Rochelle News Leader of food, live, music, petting zoo, giant inflatables and more for the kids there will a hay sculpting competition for any and interested in joining the fun.

The Hay sculpting competition will be similar to how Sinnissippi Park holds the annual snow sculpting competition. Where there will be teams building ornate sculptures using the medium at hand, which in this case will be straw and hay.

For more details about the Hay day on October 15th or for the sculpting contest visit EnjoyRochelle.com.

Cool. I think that will be neat to see.

By the way to view Fran Volz Statue of Liberty you can see her on display right now on in Front of the Sullivan's grocery store on Route 38 in Rochelle.
