Residents in one Rockford Neighborhood are feeling really good today.

As their wish for the kids was granted over the weekend.

After receiving feedback from over 400 residents the Rockford Park District broke ground this past spring on making a new playground for the kids in the neighborhood of the 2900 block  of Kishwaukee Street, Sabrooke Park. (WIFR)

This Saturday the new playground at Sabrooke Park was officially opened for play time.

"The new park includes new equipment, synthetic turf play surfacing, a new drinking fountain and spray pad, and new asphalt pathways, basketball court, and fence around the existing ball park."

In light of all the bad news lately, with the recent shooting in Vegas and all. We need to see and hear something good and positive as we look toward making the world a better place.

It starts with letting our kids be kids and play on and let their imaginations run wild on the playgrounds.

I agree with what Oliver Reed, "Director of Violence and Gang Prevention, Boys and Girls Club of Rockford. "With us holding hands together, working together and collaborating, it really benefits all of us."
