As a parent with two daughters aged 10 and 7, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the most popular places to have a birthday party these days include Skateland or SkateCo, bowling, Tilted 10, Volcano Falls, Flow Supreme Air Sports, or Urban Air Adventure Park.

While those places are absolute crowd pleasers, some of them can be expensive, especially if you have a lot of people to invite.

If you want to host a birthday party at a place that is different yet still fun, here are 5 great options in the Rockford area to consider:

1. YMCA of Rock River Valley

All of the YMCA locations in the Rockford area offer different birthday party packages that include things like; swimming, sports, Zumba, Dodgeball, Nerf guns, bounce houses, laser tag and more. We went swimming for my daughter Ella's 6th birthday party at the Northeast YMCA, and all of the kids LOVED it.

2. Burpee Museum of Natural History

My kids have gone to birthday parties twice at Burpee Museum, and they have loved getting to tour the museum and see/pet some of the museum's reptiles. This is a cool experience, especially if your kids love animals.

3. The Pottery Lounge

My kids have never attended a birthday at The Pottery Lounge, but I know kids have them there all the time AND that kids, (especially girls), love to make things! We often do a craft at my girls' birthday parties, and it's always a hit.

4. Sips & Sprinkles

One of my daughters has an October birthday, and we've always wanted to do a wagon ride and have some animal fun at Lockwood Park for her birthday party. We haven't done it yet, but Lockwood has some great party options to choose from including horses, wagon rides, cows, hikes and more!
