Fire at Tom & Jerry's in Sycamore

It was a gut-punch to the community when longtime Sycamore favorite Tom & Jerry’s was ravaged by a fire on the morning of January 31, leaving the building at 1670 DeKalb Avenue a total loss and causing more than $1.5 million in damage.

In the days following the fire, Tom & Jerry's owners have seen an outpouring of community support. From favorite memories and well wishes to area businesses selling t-shirts to benefit Tom & Jerry's employees:

Through all the love and support, there was still one big question remaining: will Tom & Jerry's in Sycamore make a comeback?

Thankfully, that answer is yes, and it's happening sooner that we all thought!

Tom & Jerry's Announces Temporary Location in Sycamore

On February 7, 2026 Tom & Jerry's posted an update that confirmed not only that they would be rebuilding the restaurant on DeKalb Ave. but also that they will be opening a temporary location sometime this March!

We knew the only direction to go was forward, so through our grief and tears we immediately began making plans.
Our first priority was to get up and running as quickly as possible which meant finding a temporary home. By Tuesday we had a lease signed at 265 W. Peace Road, Sycamore (the former Eggsclusive Cafe) we are diligently working to be able to be up and running by early March…stay tuned!
Demolition of Tom & Jerry's original building on DeKalb Ave. will begin as soon as possible, and construction on the new restaurant will begin right after.
