Gustafson’s Furniture Reopens in Rockford and Answers Closure Rumors
After a week filled with rumors, questions, and a whole lot of concern, Gustafson’s Furniture and Mattress in Rockford has reopened and fully focused on addressing customers' concerns.
Future of Gustafson's Furniture and Mattress in Rockford
Last week many Stateline-area residents were talking about the future of Gustafson's Furniture and Mattress and the reasons behind the store's temporary closure.
Current customers were worried about receiving furniture that had already been paid for and not yet delivered. Others were worried about losing another long-term, locally owned business in Rockford.
My husband and I just ordered a new couch and chair from Gustafson's less than a month ago, will we ever see the furniture we are so excited to receive? Thankfully, that answer is yes.
Recent Updates From Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress
Since the rumors began spreading, Gustafson’s has been clear about one thing: the store's closure was only temporary.
In a February 6 statement to the community, Gustafson’s said they heard Rockford’s concerns “loud and clear."
After a difficult week, the entire Gustafson’s team came together to find a path forward so we can continue serving the community we love. We take full responsibility for the frustration our temporary closure caused and sincerely apologize to our customers and the Rockford community.
Gustafson's team is in the process of contacting all existing customers and resolving open orders. Deliveries are being scheduled, phones are being answered, and now the stores' doors are back open to the public.
Gustafson's most recent update on February 11 said:
We are not closing. We’re back on track and excited about what’s ahead as we continue providing quality, affordable furniture to Rockford. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We’re ready to make 2026 a great year.
While many people throughout the Rockford-area community are happy to see Gustafson's Furniture and Mattress reopen, others are still skeptical about the business' future.
I think we all need to show Gustafson's some grace and patience. The business is going through a huge ownership transition, and changes always encounter some bumps in the road. Let's continue to support Gustafson's and have faith they will be a part of this community for many decades to come.
