Illinois should be known for more than just pizza and hot dogs.

Just a few days ago, I was talking about how national food bloggers only want to write about pizza and hot dogs when they mention Illinois food.

It seems someone was listening to me because it appears we're also pretty good at burgers too.

In the area that I live in, we've got some great burger offerings like 15th and Chris and Buddy's Burgers.

In my former hometown, we've got Kuma's Corner and Au Cheval.

Just those four places alone should prove we've got plenty of great burgers in Illinois.

That's because Chicago was just named one of the Best American Cities for Burger Lovers by 24/7 Tempo.

Ranked 4th overall, Chicago was rated a 50.64. Washington D.C. was named the best city for burgers in America with San Francisco and Pasadena, California coming in 2nd and 3rd.

Two of the best burger joints in America also come from Illinois according to 24/7 Wall Street. Interestingly, neither of them is located in Chicago. Both Boba Burger (Morton Grove) and Asadoras Argentina Burgers (Oswego) are in the suburbs of Chicago.

Anyway, if you've lived in Chicago, the suburbs, Rockford, or anywhere in Illinois, you should already know that we've got plenty of great burgers. It's up to you to decide which is the best in the state.

Regardless of your choice, you have to admit it's mighty heartwarming to know that the rest of the country is finally catching on to something we already know, Illinois is a great state for burgers.
