Have you ever been inside Soldier Field for a Chicago Bears game and thought, “I wonder what it would be like to sleep here.” No? Well, someone actually made that a thing, and it sounds like a pretty cool experience.

Chicago Bears Fans

Living in Illinois, I consider myself a Chicago Bears fan by duty, not necessarily by choice.

I come from a family of Bears fans, but I rarely ever sit down to watch a game on TV.

I don't fall victim to all the emotions that come with a Bears win or loss like most fans do, but the possibility of the Bears' new stadium being built in Indiana is completely ridiculous to me.

For many fans, Soldier Field is a sacred place, and this November we all have the chance to spend the night at the current home of the Chicago Bears.

Sleep At Soldier Field For A Good Cause

First, let's make one thing very clear: what I am about to tell you about is not a sleepover with the Chicago Bears. It is the chance to spend the night at Soldier Field while helping raise money for a really important cause. Sounds like the next best thing for a Bears fan to me!

On Thursday, November 19, 2026, Covenant House Illinois will hold its Sleep Out: Chicago, and this year it is moving to a pretty iconic location: Soldier Field.

This is the first time the event will be held at Soldier Field, and organizers are hoping the new location will bring in the largest crowd yet.

Now, before you start imagining yourself curled up in a sleeping bag on the Bears' actual field, there is one important detail you need to know: you won't be sleeping on the field.

How Sleep Out: Soldier Field Works

The number one mission of the Sleep Out: Soldier Field event is to raise money for Covenant House Illinois, which is an organization that provides shelter, housing assistance and other services for young people experiencing homelessness.

Money raised through this year's Sleep Out will help provide things like housing, food, mental health support, education and employment services, and Sleep Out participants are asked to do one thing: experience one night of uncomfortable sleep.

Participants will sleep in Soldier Field's covered outdoor mezzanine area which overlooks the field. Will it be cold? Yes. Will it be unforgettable? Also, yes.

How to Register for Sleep Out: Soldier Field

You don't have to be a Bears fan to participate in Sleep Out: Soldier Field, but you do need to register and raise money before the big sleepover. You can participate individually or put together a team and raise money with friends, family or coworkers. Get more information and sign up now sleepout.org/chicago.

Honestly, I can think of plenty of places I'd rather sleep than outside in Chicago in November. But if you're going to be uncomfortable for a night, doing it inside one of Chicago's most recognizable sports venues while helping homeless young people seems like a pretty meaningful way to do it.
