My family always has a vacation tradition of where we'll always make one of our last stops to indulge in a tasty treat.

When vacationing last week around Starved Rock, I made sure on my way back to make a stop at Screamer's, in Shabbona, for a tasty treat.

It's right on Route 30 about 20 minutes from Rochelle, and it's a great place for really good ice cream. They do serve food too, but my family always goes there for the ice cream.

It reminds of Kelly's Corner the ice cream shop that used to be in Rochelle. When I was in high school, my friends and I would go there for lunch or an afternoon treat.

Screamer's, to me,  is one of those special "Mom and Pop" run businesses they may not be flashy but what pulls you in is their tasty treats and down home atmosphere. They may be a bit off the beaten path of I-39 but to me it is so worth making a stop for.

Next time your down around the Shabbonna area, I encourage you to check out Screamer's.

What family vacation traditions do you and your family have? Do you have any special ice cream places that you visit?
