This Tiny Illinois Ice Cream Shop Is Serving Benson Boone-Inspired Shakes
Looking for a different kind of ice cream shop? This tiny out-of-the-way gem might need to get added to your list of must-stop destinations before the end of the summer.
Located in Byron, just 25 minutes or so southwest of Rockford, sits the tiny and very pink Sundae Social. After a warm day, I stopped with my youngest to see what they offered. The menu has plenty of options, including cake and waffle cones and some signature sundaes.

Benson Boone Fans: Don’t Miss the Moonbeam Shake
If you're a Benson Boone fan, you might want to check this place out. This was the topic of conversation on the way over between my son and me as we trekked to Sundae Social. As he mentioned, "I hope they have moonbeam ice cream," which is a nod to Boone's Mystical Magical jam. Sure enough, Sundae Social, and for a limited time, were offering a Moonbeam Ice Cream Shake inspired by Boone's lyrics.
Friendly Service and a Fun Summer Vibe
The place fills up on warm days, but the staff is quick and friendly, and there's plenty of room to sit and enjoy your dessert. It can be a bit pricey, but judging from my son's reaction, it was worth the money. Sundae Social is located at 204 East Blackhawk and is open daily from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
