I think the Summer of 2020 was the year most of us gained a new appreciation for outdoor fun. The pandemic forced us to spend more time at home, and sitting inside on a beautiful summer day or evening made us feel even more stir crazy.

I also think it's safe to say the popularity of outdoor movie theaters had a massive resurgence last summer too because they gave us all the option to do "normal" things again, like watching a movie somewhere other than our home.

It may be a bit safer to step out of our homes and "circles of trust" now, but I'm thinking drive-in movies will still be "the" thing to do this summer too. So, without further adieu, let's get to the good news...McHenry Outdoor Theater is officially opening for their 2021 season with a "Sharknado Weekend" this Friday!

Now, I know what you're thinking if you've seen the "Sharknado" movies before, but I promise you McHenry Drive-In's "Sharknado Weekend" will be something you will actually enjoy...

Please remember that tickets for this weekend's double feature at McHenry Drive-IN CANNOT be purchased in advance, so to guarantee your spotm you need to get in line early. The gates/box office will open around 6:30 p.m., and I'm thinking this sounds like a great excuse to have a car picnic dinner with the fam before the show.

One last thing, if you want to experience a drive-in movie night closer to home, Lockwood Park is hosting another outdoor MOOvie night next Friday, May 7, and the feature presentation is "Star Wars: A New Hope". Get more info and your tickets now, here.
