I understand that no one really mails letters anymore and that the United States Postal Service is hurting for money, but I'm highly doubtful that a postage increase is going to have people running to flip the flag on their mailbox. What do I know though?

Effective Sunday, January 21, 2018, it will now cost $.50 to mail a letter at the U.S. Post Office, and the price of package shipping went up too.

How wonderful.

I get that the price of a postage stamp only went up a penny, but for some reason saying it costs fifty cents to mail something sounds a whole lot worse that forty nine cents. Am I crazy?

On the other hand, if this price increase will keep some of the junk mail out of my mailbox, I'm all in.
