Rockford, Illinois' youth flag football program has been getting a lot of attention lately, but the surprise Lamont Jones of the Rockford Park District recently received from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell might be the icing on the cake!

Rockford's Big Night With the Chicago Bears

Football fans all over the country were tuned in to witness the Chicago Bears' amazing victory over the Green Bay Packers last Saturday night, but my favorite part wasn't the win. It was seeing Rockford kids shine during halftime:

In case you didn't know, the Chicago Bears organization has been a big supporter of the Rockford's youth flag football program, thanks in big part to a man named Lamont Jones.

A Super Surprise for Lamont Jones

Lamont Jones serves as the general manager of Clarence Hicks Sports Park and Youth Sports for the Rockford Park District. He has spent nearly 25 years developing a youth flag football program in Rockford, and his efforts were honored in a huge way on Saturday night at Soldier Field.

After being surprised with Super Bowl tickets, Jones told 13 WREX: "When he asked me if I would like to go to the Super Bowl I had to walk away, soak it all in and come back and talk to Roger". Obviously, he said yes.

Attending the Super Bowl will be an awesome experience in itself, but the possibility of the Chicago Bears playing in the game too is what Lamont Jones is most excited about. He told WREX:

The only thing that would really make this special is if the Chicago Bears are coming along with me.

Any other team there is just going to be for the social stuff and soaking it all in. But a real dream come true is to see the Chicago Bears out there with me as well.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed, Lamont. Go Bears!
