How To Support Victims In Orlando
As we here in Rockford and all over the world mourn over the tragedy that took place in Orlando, you can help! Here are ways that you can do your part to get involved.
1. Donate Blood.
Even though they already have enough donated blood in Orlando, thanks to the thousands of people who stepped up in Florida, the need for donated blood in case of something like this happening locally is real. You can do your part by donating blood here locally. Here is an article that touches on the low blood supply still going on here in Rockford.
2. Donate Money
According to an article on Time Magazine's website, there is a go fund me account that has been set up.
"Equality Florida set up a donation page on GoFundMe to support the victims. The fund has raised more than $120,000 from more than 3,000 donors since being set up"
3. Attend A Vigil
As the days go on, there will be more and more candlelight vigils at churches and other public places here locally. It is a great way to show your support and be with others during this time of mourning.
4. Attending Counseling
If you ever feel overwhelmed by what is going on, there are always counselors that will be able to help out whenever they can. Check with your employer to see if they have free counseling over the phone or in person. You can also call a local counseling service to schedule a time to talk about what you feel.
Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone down in Orlando. Lets remember that we are all one and that this great nation will not stand for this or any other act of violence.
