Do you have a pair of tennis shoes you bought that just never fit right, or you ended up not liking, just sitting around at home? Carpenter's Place in Rockford would love to take them off your hands to help this city's homeless population.

Every year on Holy Thursday, Carpenter's Place hosts a Foot Care Event where Podiatry students from OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center come and care for the feet of their homeless guests. This includes washing and evaluating the health of their feet, trimming their toenails, and giving them a pair of new shoes and socks to keep their feet protected. You and I may not know much about podiatry, but if you feel the call to help this effort, you can make a donation  now to Carpenter's Place.

Carpenter's Place in Rockford currently needs donations of durable athletic shoes and socks as well as monetary donations to use towards their Foot Care Event coming up on April 1, 2021.

There are several ways to make a donation:

  • Drop off shoes, socks, cash or checks to Carpenter's Place at 1149 Railroad Avenue in Rockford. Make sure you put "Attn: Patty Floyd Foot Care Event' on any donation dropoffs.
  • Call Carpenter's place to make a monetary donation via credit card at 815-964-4105 and ask for Patty Floyd.
  • Purchase socks and shoes via Amazon and have them shipped to Carpenter's Place.
  • Donate online at carpentersplace.org.
