The initiative aims to connect individuals and families with crucial community resources and services, particularly for those impacted by domestic or community violence.

What is the VPCC?

The VPCC was created to better coordinate existing services for individuals who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing violence.

Member organizations of the council include the City of Rockford, Comprehensive Community Solutions, Northwest Community Center, National Youth Advocacy Program, Get Connected 815, YMCA, and several others.

Representatives from these groups will be part of the outreach effort, providing referrals to services such as housing and utility support, food assistance, public benefits, and more.

What Residents Can Expect

As these organizations visit neighborhoods, representatives will be easily identifiable with name tags, identification badges, and branded clothing from their respective organizations.

Whether it’s a family in need of housing assistance or someone looking for food resources, the VPCC team will be ready to provide helpful information and referrals.

With both professionals and individuals with lived experiences participating, the goal is to build trust with residents and ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.

How to Get Involved

If you’re interested in learning more about the Violence Prevention Coordinating Council or the services they offer, you can contact the City of Rockford or any of the member organizations for additional information.

This community-centered effort is a great opportunity for Rockford residents to get connected to resources that can make a real difference in their lives.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
