National Tour Stops in Rockford

The immersive mobile museum experience will be open from May 31 through June 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Veterans Memorial Hall, located at 211 N. Main Street in Rockford.

The traveling exhibit is part of a nationwide campaign designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and to connect communities through stories of freedom, sacrifice, and American achievement.

Interactive Exhibit Highlights America's History

Inside the Freedom Truck experience, visitors will encounter interactive exhibits designed to engage people of all ages. One of the featured attractions is an AI-powered portrait of George Washington that speaks to guests, blending modern technology with Revolutionary War history.

Guests can participate in a "Loyalist or Patriot?" quiz, digitally sign a copy of the Declaration of Independence, and explore exhibits detailing the battles that helped shape the nation's independence from Great Britain.

Organizers say the exhibit is intended to educate visitors while encouraging reflection on the founding principles that shaped the United States and continue to influence the country 250 years later.

Honoring American Heroes And National Unity

The mobile museum concludes with a wall honoring 50 influential Americans, including Rosa Parks, Mark Twain, the Wright Brothers, and Aretha Franklin. The exhibit highlights how generations of Americans contributed to the nation's progress long after the Revolutionary War ended.

The Freedom 250 initiative describes the nationwide tour as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate American history while helping communities look ahead to the country's next chapter.

The stop in Rockford places northern Illinois among dozens of communities around the state participating in the national celebration leading up to America's semiquincentennial.
