Illinois Mom Shares Heartwarming Story of How St. Jude Saved Her Child’s Life
Most people know that no family ever sees a bill when their child is treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but many people don't fully understand why.
Over 10 years ago I had the honor of meeting the Foster family of Rockford, Illinois whose daughter Kate was being treated at St. Jude. Kate was 13 years old when she relapsed with a very aggressive form of leukemia and traveled to Memphis for the fight of her life.
Kate's first cancer fight was treated at UW Madison Children's Hospital, and here's Kate's mom, Barb, talking about how massive those medical bills were and why it's vitally important to support St. Jude. Your donation to St. Jude is literally saving families from ruin.
From the first moment I met Kate I was blown away. At 13 years old she was so well-spoken, positive, and determined, despite all the Hell she had gone through.
Kate has done competitive gymnastics since she was very young, and even after losing one of her legs to cancer, Kate continued to compete.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital isn't just a hospital that treats the sickest of kids in Memphis, Tennessee, it's a hospital that touches lives everywhere cancer exists. It touches families right here in Rockford, and kids who wouldn't be living out their dreams if it wasn't for St. Jude.
During my 22 years of being a part of the Q98.5 family, I have been involved in many incredible fundraisers for St. Jude, but I can tell you with 100 percent honesty that none of them have been as special as Flannel Jam: Country Confidential presented by LawnCare by Walter. We have an incredible opportunity to raise massive amounts of money for St. Jude and Easter Seals on September 10th, and it will be a night you won't want to miss and will NEVER forget.
Get your tickets here, and we'll see you at the Coronado Performing Arts Center next weekend!
