The new passenger line Elite Airways offering services to Newark New Jersey/ New York City and Fort Collins, CO will take their first flights out of the Chicago Rockford International Airport this Thursday.

The first flight out of Rockford headed to Newark, New Jersey/ New York City will be at 8 a.m. Aug. 27. Airport officials say "the flight is about 80 percent full."

Later that afternoon, the first flight to Fort Collins will leave at 2 p.m., and is almost full as well.

WREX reports that RFD officials say "bookings are about where they expected, and that they're hoping low fares are enticing more people to catch a flight out of Rockford instead of Chicago."

Cost for flights to New York City are $99 one way and $69 one way to Ft. Collins. Very affordable and so easy to get to in Rockford. I flown Allegiant out of Rockford to Orland a few times and I loved the ease of getting to and through the airport and never had any issues with the flights or delays.

Hmmm... The wheels in my brain are turning for my next vacation. I've always wanted to go to New York City and I have friends who live in Colorado.
