More stores are jumping aboard the bandwagon and are announcing they will be closed on Thanksgiving. One store has even gone as far as announcing they will be closed on Black Friday.REI, a major sporting goods store has announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving and that they will pay their employees to #OptOutside

REI  CEO, Jerry Stritzke, say:

We’re a different kind of company—and while the rest of the world is fighting it out in the aisles, we’ll be spending our day a little differently. We’re choosing to opt outside, and want you to come with us.

They have even created a campaign to encourage other retail outlets to do the same

Other Stores have announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving, the list includes:

Staples: You can still shop online at Staples.com. The chain will open at 6am on Black Friday if you really need to grab those office supplies, fast!

GameStop: The gaming retailer also announced it would closed on Thanksgiving. will offer deals online at GameStop.com. Doors open at 5am on Black Friday.

There is even an effort on through a Facebook page that was created in 2014, to encourage consumers to avoid shopping on Thanksgiving.

On November 26th, boycott any retailer that chooses to extend massive Black Friday sales into Thanksgiving Day. Protect the employees, protect the family.
