Innocent bystanders at an Illinois shopping center were injured by gunfire on Thursday afternoon (4/20) during a shooting in Rockford.

According to the press release, Rockford Police responded to the Alpine Village Center at 2410 South Alpine Road around 3 pm for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived on the scene, police were notified that "gunfire was exchanged between two individuals" and during the shooting, there were three businesses and five vehicles in the shopping center parking lot that ended up being hit with bullets.

Man Inside Business Hit with Stray Bullet During Shooting

During the shooting between the two suspects at the Alpine Village Center, gunfire struck a man inside a business at the strip mall giving a "graze wound" to his leg.

A woman sitting in her vehicle also suffered minor injuries when she was hit with broken glass after a bullet struck her car.

Rockford Police are continuing to investigate this incident, and at the time this article was published, there were no arrests or suspects in the case.
