Since moving up here a few months ago, I notice a lot of negativity when it comes to Rockford and the surrounding area. Now, I am going to go positive on everyone.

According to our new partner WTVO, the town of Shirland held their annual 4th of July parade. Featured in the parade was the Winnebago County pink firetruck. They heard that a longtime volunteer firefighter was not able to attend the parade because he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer in April and was too weak to attend.

John Harris, along with his son, had a special surprise waiting for them. The pink firetruck made a special stop at the home. Harris and his son were able to sign the truck.

The "Gentle Giant" as he is called by everyone who knows him, has been given only 3 months to live. What happened yesterday with everyone celebrating his final days with him are very important to Harris and should be a reminder that each day is important, no matter what is happening in life.
