Awkward, weird, wild, planned, embarrassing are all words being used to describe the epic fail of the Miss Universe pageant Sunday night. Host Steve Harvey read the wrong winner, and after a few awkward moments, the crown was removed from Miss Colombia and placed on Miss Philippines. Awkward indeed.

Sunday’s Miss Universe 2015 ended with host Steve Harvey naming Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the evening’s top winner… only she was really the first runner-up. Itgets even more awkward.

That means that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach, who’d previously been named first runner-up, was actually the new beauty queen. Miss Colombia was patiently awaiting an interpreter to tell her why someone took her crown off and gave it to someone else. The Southwest Airlines commercial "Want to get away?" slogan comes to mind now for all parties involved. Epic fail.

He added: “Still a great night. Please don’t hold it against the ladies.” Then Gutierrez bent down so the crown she’d been awarded could be removed and placed on Wurtzbach’s head.

Never saw that at any pageant at any level. It was a first for me to experience and thoughts and well wishes to all parties involved in the epic fail at the end of the night.

Can't wait to see what Saturday Night Live will do with this material comes Saturday night.
