Chicago Based United Airlines Testing Beds in Economy Class
United Airlines Introduces “Relaxed Row” for More Comfortable Flights
If you’ve ever tried to sleep on a plane and ended up folded like a lawn chair, this might fix that issue.
Chicago, Illinois-based United Airlines is rolling out something called the “Relaxed Row.”
What Is United’s Relaxed Row Seating?
What that essentially means is you’ll get a full row of three economy seats that can turn into a couch or, better yet, a bed.

Economy Seats That Convert Into a Bed
Again, that’s in the economy section of the airplane.
It comes with a mattress pad, pillows, blankets, upgraded entertainment, and Wi-Fi.
Instead of fighting for more elbow room, you can just get the whole row to yourself and stretch out without having to look like a jerk.
When United Will Roll Out Relaxed Row Seating
Now, before you start booking, it’s not happening tomorrow.
United is planning to roll out this new row feature in 2027, with more planes equipped by 2030, including long-haul aircraft like 787s and 777s.

How Much Will Relaxed Row Cost?
Pricing? Well, nothing announced yet, but if the idea to give people the option to stay between economy and business goes through, it should work for those who’d like to but don’t want to sell a kidney to get it done.
Could Relaxed Row Be a Game Changer for O’Hare Travelers?
Interesting that United is now finding more room in its planes for passengers. It’s the kind of thing that they probably should have done 20, 30 years ago.
Either way, if the price is right, the “Relaxed Row” could be a big game changer for your next long flight out of O’Hare.
