U of I Is Offering Free Tuition To Qualifying Students Next Year
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign made a pretty huge announcement on Monday; starting in the Fall of 2019 qualifying in-state students can get 4 years of tuition at U of I for FREE.
For real. I wish I could have qualified for this when I was a senior.
According to U of I's website;
Starting with our 2019 incoming class, we'll cover tuition and fees for up to four years for all qualified in-state students. That's our mission as a land-grant institution. That's Illinois Commitment.
So, the question you're wondering now is, who qualifies for this free tuition, right? Applicants must:
- Be an Illinois resident, and if parents are listed on the application, they need to be Illinois residents as well.
- Have a family income of $61,000 or less
- Only have $50,000 or less in family assets
- Be admitted as a new freshmen or transfer student
- Be under the age of 24
