Two Rockford Area Fall Attractions Make the List of 15 Best in Illinois
School is back in session and the leaves will start changing colors soon. Fall is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy some great outdoor family activities. In Illinois, there are lots of choices for fall fun and two cool Stateline attractions made the list of the 15 Best Fall Activities to do in Illinois!
Fall is my favorite time of the year as fall festivals get under way. Hayrides, pumpkin picking, corn mazes and eating apple cider donuts all part of the fun, but where to find the best fun? Look no further than two destinations right in our own backyard that made the list of Top 15 best fall attractions.
#7 Jonamac Orchard in Malta (Just West of DeKalb)
This apple orchard is located in the same town as Kishwaukee college. Family owned and operated since 1984. Jonamac is a apple orchard and a pumpkin patch that is open to the public as of Aug 16th and will remain open through the month of November. At jonamac, they also have a store and bakery. Of course, adults and children will want to spend time in corn maze and petting zoo. They boast an array of fall activities for the whole family on 65 acres just south of Rt 38. Mmmmm, we can just taste the apple cider!
#8 Midway Village Museum in Rockford
this is a hot spot for taking summer wedding photos in Rockford, but in the fall, Midway Village colors really stand out. The location is surrounded by the colorful trees. According to bestthingsil.com
It's a quiet place to reflect, explore and appreciate nature in a setting that remains virtually untouched by time.
In addition to holding popular historical events like World War II days, the museum hosts it's famous Scarecrow Harvest Festival on October 7th which will feature Scarecrow Making, Horse Drawn Wagon Rides, . Apple & Pumpkin Games, Scavenger Hunts, Dancing, storytelling and more.
Now, if you are like me, you are probably surprised that some Rockford Area attractions are notable missing. I would suggest two: Edward's Apple Orchard and the Pumpkin Patch. How 'bout you?
